Job Summary

 

Job Title: Shop Machine Operator

Job Brief: The Cabinetmaker delivers architectural woodwork products that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Job Starting Location: 5717 West 6th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214.
Position Type: Full Time. Must be flexible to work over 40 hours when needed.
Job Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm (Day Shift), overtime when necessary.
Compensation: $22-25/hour depending on experience
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Job Description

 

Do you have strong woodworking skills and an eye for detail? Edge Construction Specialties is looking for the right candidate who can deliver architectural woodworking products that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Using the shop drawings and specs provided by our Shop Manager, you will use your building and mathematical skills to create cabinets that meet very specific guidelines. You’ll work alongside the other members of our building team to create an important product that is in high demand. This is a great way to put your carpentry skills to use in an environment where your experience and insight will be sincerely valued. Essential Job Duties

 

Duties/Responsibilities

• Safely handle raw materials through the machining process 
• Efficiently set up and operate saws
• Machine parts accurately for assembly
• Perform routine maintenance (minor) to machines as determined by maintenance schedule (i.e. clean, grease and lubricate saws and machines)
• Ensure quality of parts before assembly
• Setup adjust and operate required machines to execute specifications 
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Cutlist when needed
• Other tasks asked of by the manager as needed

Job Requirements

 

Required Qualifications

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Two or more years of experience using the following machines:

    • Slider saw (sliding panel saw)

    • table saw

    • chop saw

    • pocket borer 

    • edgebander

    • shaper 

    • planer

    • Jointer

    • wide belt sander

    • dowel machines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience using the following machines:

    • CNC

    • Sit down forklift

​

Skills / Abilities / Behaviors

  • Dependable (comes to work ready to work)

  • Dependable transportation

  • Strong teamwork and outgoing personality

  • Self driven to execute tasks in a timely manner

  • Can easily transition from one task to the next​

 

Education and Experience

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • Understanding of necessary mathematics

  • Knowledge of materials and processing

  • Applicable engineering and design skills

  • Ability to read and evaluate work orders

  • Strong work ethic, constant attention to detail, and a commitment to reliability

  • Take pride in your work

  • Reliable transportation to/from work

Physical Requirements

  • Be comfortable working on your feet for the duration of your shift

  • Good eyesight with corrective lenses

  • Stoop, kneel, and crouch

  • Use hands and arms to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects

  • Able to safely lift 50 pounds safely and 80-100 pounds with helper

Employment with Edge Construction Specialties is contingent upon the following:

• Satisfactory reference checks.

• Completion of a satisfactory background check.

• Completion of a satisfactory MVR driving record check.

• Passing a pre-employment Drug Screen

• Passing a DOT Medical Examination
