Job Title: Project Engineer

Location: Assigned Jobsites and Edge HQ @ 5717 West 6th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214
Position Type: Full Time (Must be flexible to working over 40 hours as needed)
Standard Office Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm
Compensation: $65,000-90,000 per year based upon experience

 

Job Description

 

Our Project Engineers ensure our commercial construction projects runs smoothly – they are the "go to" person for the 
team that our Project Managers and Foreman look to for project detail and technical support.  You will be involved in many 
aspects of the Construction Management process from pre-construction through warranty and closeout.   
 
Project Engineers assist with bidding, prepare take-offs, acquire subcontractor services and material purchases; update 
and enforce project schedules; coordinate project meetings; organize project records and documents; manage change 
orders, process submittals and other necessary project documents; compile documentation for warranty and closeout 
manuals, and physically inspect projects to monitor progress and compliance with project standards.   
 
The variety of duties requires that the Project Engineer be organized, detail-orientated, a quick learner and an effective 
communicator.

REPORTS TO: Vice President

Essential Job Duties

 

  • Act as the primary point of contact with the Project Manager to ensure work is completed in conformance with project drawings and specifications.  

  • Prepare quantity take-offs and estimating relative to new work. 

  • Assist the PM to manage project costs to assure that budgets are maintained. Document and manage changes in the work to secure the interests of the entire project team 

  • Coordinate project documents (RFI’s, submittals, drawings, purchase orders, change orders, etc.) and monitor timely turn-around on these same items.  

  • Review submittals making sure they are accurately reviewed and coordinated, and materials are being procured in conformance with the project schedule.  

  • Identify any missing information from construction documents and work through those differences with project team members.  

  • Support on-site divisions as required to resolve problems, ensure quality control, flow of construction in support of overall project schedule.  

  • Perform project warranty and closeout in conformance with the contract and to the Owners satisfaction.  

  • Foresee potential problems and organize the team to avoid/resolve issues before they impact the project(s).  

  • Resolve common project problems to maintain good business relationships and outcomes.  

  • Assist during preconstruction and estimating. Duties to include quantity take-offs and bid leveling, and evaluation of projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings 

  • Assist with project schedule and perform job schedule updates in conjunction with the project superintendent.  

  • Proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate their solutions  

  • Conduct and document project progress meetings  

  • Assist in completion of project specific requirements as requested/needed by operations staff. 

Job Requirements

 

The ideal candidate will have strong relationship building skills, excellent organization and communication, and the ability 
to prioritize and lead others. At times, it will be necessary to travel in order to support projects in the Denver/metro area. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and related construction experience 

  • Construction Management degree preferred but not required.  

 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

  • Excellent computer skills.   

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.  

    • Experience with Blue Beam Revu, ProCore (or other similar software) a plus.  

  • Excellent organization, multi-tasking and planning skills  

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently. 

  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively on a project team. 

  • Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment. 

  • Excellent customer service orientation and verbal written communication skills  

  • Successful completion of post-offer background and drug screens
